Obituary of Otis Kurtz

Otis Gale Kurtz, 76, of Forest, passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2012. He was born in Evergreen, Virginia, June 7, 1936. He was a son of the late Kate Johnson Kurtz and Charles W. Kurtz, Sr. He is survived by one brother, Kelly J. Kurtz, Sr. and his wife ,Barbara ,of Forest; a niece, Wendy K. Eubank (Scott) of Roanoke; two nephews, Anthony R. Kurtz (Tootie) of Lynchburg, and Kelly J. Kurtz , Jr. (Alyssa) of Concord. Otis was preceded in death by two brothers, C.W. Kurtz, Jr. and Kirk Allen Kurtz; and half brothers James K Paulette and Marvin Paulette. Otis spent much of his life at The Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind in Staunton as a student and as a teacher. Otis was a quiet unassuming person who touched many lives during his life A funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel, by Rev. Dr. Thomas Bryant. Burial will be at 2:00 PM in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends for 1 hour immediately after the service at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alumnae fund of The Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind, P.O. Box 2069, Staunton Va.24402. The family wishes to thank Hospice and the staff at Heritage Green for their loving care during Otis? illness.
