Obituary of Capt. Anderson Kell
Capt. William Anderson Kelley, Jr., 68, of Lynchburg
died January 30, 2008 at
his home.
Born November 4,
1939 in Lynchburg,
William, known fondly by his family and friends as Knobby, was the only son of
the late Lillian Williams Kelley and William Anderson Kelley. He is survived by
his aunt Dorothy W. Jones of Lynchburg,
his aunt Fern W. Harvey and husband Allen W. Harvey of Forest,
his uncle Jack B. Williams of Richmond,
his uncle Francis K. Williams and wife Betty of Sky Valley, Georgia, cousin
Weldon Kelley and wife Mae of Bedford and many other cousins.
Knobby was a long time member of First Christian Church. He
graduated from E. C.
Glass High School
in 1958 and Lynchburg College
in 1962. After college he joined the United States Air Force and retired as
Captain.
Knobby was a true gentleman that will be lovingly remembered
for his soft spoken, kind and thoughtful manner.
The family wishes to thank Brenda Goff, Dana Stump and Kathy
Taylor for their dedication and devotion in caring for Knobby the past few
years. The strove to make each day as enriching as possible. Thanks to these
kind caregivers, Knobby was never alone. They loved him as their own family
member.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, 11:00 am, February 6, 2008 in Fort
Hill Memorial Park
with the Rev. David Cobb officiating.
