Obituary of Margaret Rogers

MARGARET ELIZABETH ROGERS Margaret Elizabeth Rogers died Saturday, February 23, 2008 in Medical Care Center after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 15, 1914, the daughter of the late William A. and Elizabeth Colwell Rogers. Margaret was educated in the Lynchburg City Schools. She retired as a civilian employee of the U S Navy in Norfolk. After a long and successful employment, she enjoyed much of her retirement between her home in Lynchburg and the family's business "Rogers Cottages" in Nags Head, NC. Margaret was a devoted sister and caregiver for all of her family. She was an active and dedicated member of Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church having been baptized there in early childhood. She was preceded in death by three brothers; William A. Rogers, Robert L. Rogers, Paul E. Rogers and by one devoted sister, Cornelia V. Rogers. She is survived by one brother; Earl H. Rogers, one sister; Marie R. Scott and "special cousins", Carolyn and Wyatt Skinnell , all of Lynchburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm Tuesday, Feb. 26 at Diuguid Wiggington Chapel by Dr. David Breckenridge of Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church and the Rev. Nathanael (Nick) B. Habel. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
