Obituary of Phyllis Ackerman

Phyllis Ackerman, 82, of Lynchburg, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Lynchburg, General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.  

She was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church and was a member of the Quilting Group at Forest Alliance Church.   

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Donald Ackerman and her brother Paul Vanyo.  She is survived by her two children, Mark Ackerman, Lynchburg, Susan Vanyo, Lynchburg and four grandchildren.  

Phyllis was a nurse for many years at Virginia Baptist Hospital.  Phyllis and Donald were missionaries in the Philippines for 20 years. 

Graveside services will be held at Amelia Veteran’s Cemetery 10300 Prideville Rd. Amelia Court House, VA 23002, on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 1:00pm. 

Visitation will be held Diuguid Funeral & Crematory, 21914 Timberlake Rd, Lynchburg, VA 24502 on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
