Linda and family:
I am so deeply sorry that Fuzz is no longer with us! I had the pleasure of working with him for many years, and his presence will be missed.
Fuzz was always very matter-of-fact in a loving and stern way, as only Fuzz could be; this was a wonderful quality to have encountered. His boisterous laugh and big personality will definitely be missed. I was so glad that I was able to see Fuzz (and Linda) this past summer (much by accident). We will miss him all the way from Leadville, Colorado!
With deep sympathy, Stephanie McBride (Pacheco)

Linda: Glass football games will never be the same without Fuzzy and his bull horn (that was not obnoxious, at least not in the eyes of all Glass fans.) He personified the good and fighting spirit that has developed over the last three years. I know you and your family will miss Fuzzy as well as all of those who had the good fortune to know him. He was a dynamo
Please give to all of your family Mina and my condolences.. Robin

I have been friends with the Ballard family since childhood, and meeting Fuzz through them was a added benefit. I first met Fuzz at a holiday family dinner at the house of my brother, Chris, and his (then) wife, Pam. When I went back to work after the holidays and people asked me what I had done, it gave me great pleasure to tell them, “you’re not going to believe this, but I ate chicken with Colonel Sanders.” It was a pleasure and honor to know Fuzz, and I can only imagine how much he will be missed by so many. May God bless and keep you all.

Linda,
Years ago I told you about several of us having dinner with Fuzz in Leadville and the ensuing events with a fellow (previously unknown) diner wearing a Crimson Tide hat. Without going into the details again, your response was that “Fuzz never met anyone he didn’t know.” How true! We are so fortunate to have crossed paths with Fuzz. He will be missed and he will be remembered fondly.

Dearest Ellen, I'm very sorry to hear of the recent loss of your Dad. From your postings I can tell he had a very large presence and personality and will be greatly missed. He must be where you get your spirit and big smile from! I know you are grieving and shocked (as it sounds like his passing was unexpected). May you find peace and joy during this time surrounding yourself with friends and family sharing memories together. And know that healing of the hurt lessens in time. And his presence is always in your heart. God bless you friend.

Beyond devastated that I will not be able to watch Fuzz swing on the porch with his grandchildren in East Beach this summer and with Abigail or “Duck” as he so affectionately joined us in calling her. It warmed our heart to see the love and affection he extended to our family. I remember the first day I met him. It was like I’d known him my entire life as he reminded me of my own father so much. He just walked in my front door like he owned the place. I offered him a beer and he took a tour of the house. We always looked forward to him being in town. He will be so unbelievably missed. Our sincerest condolences. Love, Sally, Michael, & Duck

Dear Linda, Jonathan, & Ellen,
Please accept my sincerest condolences. As you know Fuzz and I worked together at the Trans Engineering Agency. During that time we became very close friends. I can't think of anyone that I admired more than Fuzz. What a great sense of humor he had. He enjoyed life to the fullest. Just a fun guy to be around. I was thrilled when he & Linda came to Newport News for my surprise 80th birthday party. It made my night. I remember a visit to your home in Lynchburg a few years ago & we were visiting in the house when he got a call that his pot belly pig was in someone's yard up the street & he went to retrieve it. He didn't come back for a while and we had to leave. As we passed the house where the pig was, the resident in her bikini was trying with the water hose to chase the pig out of her yard. It was so funny. Fuzz finally got the pig on the way home. Another funny incident was when our Cdr. Col JEB Stuart left the agency, Fuzz had this idea to dress him up to look look like JEB's famous grandfather, Civil War General JEB Stuart. We gathered up a grey Cidital jacket, a Hat with a Feather on it, a Union Civil Ward Sword, some boots , etc . and it brought the house down as we dressed him at his going away party.
He will be missed by all who knew him.

Linda and family,
We have all lost a very special person in our lives. Many fond memories from my childhood visiting from 'Up North". The Sanders gathering in the outer-banks of NC, camping with the army tents "Fuzz" acquired from Ft. Eustis. Also the annual Sanders gatherings. Keep friends close and family closer, as we move forward in our lives. Every time I think of him, I smile. God bless !!

Fuzz liked to tease (!), so I once got to bother HIM. Called him from Leadville years back—was lookin’ for his house(s). Linda answers, but says he’s NAPPING—like the obit mentioned—so of course I told Linda, “Perfect! Wake him up!” I finally got to raz HIM.
He’s now where you can BIG nap if you want to—but I can’t wait to wake him up again one day.
